Emerging Priorities Program
Funding under the program enables the Australian Government to support community responses to issues that emerge outside the annual application round for funded community projects. The Emerging Priorities Program allows for greater flexibility in tackling community relations issues as they arise.
This funding reflects the objectives of the Living in Harmony program, which seeks to promote Australian values, such as mutual respect and participation, and engage the whole community in fostering a shared sense of belonging.
Application process
As issues emerge, the Department of Immmigration and Citizenship develops project based responses with the support of the relevant community and government organisations.
All projects are required to meet the established eligibility criteria, and are approved at the discretion of the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship. The criteria and processes for the development of projects can be found in the Guidelines for the Emerging Priorities Program.
