The Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) proposes to run a three-tier school art competition to raise community awareness on African culture, traditions and geography. The competition themes are ‘A Tasmanian’s Interpretation of Africa’ or ‘Tasmanian Culture, Landscape and Traditions’. There will be a two-week public exhibition of the artworks, concluding on Harmony Day. Local businesses will sponsor/donate the prizes to the winning schools and present a small gift to the winning student. The framed works will be hung in refugee and Humanitarian entrants’ on-arrival accommodation as a welcome to Australia.
