Living in Harmony Community Grants 2004

NSW

Organisation: New South Wales Board of Jewish Education
Project Name: Interfaith Study Project
Suburb: BONDI
State: NSW
Amount: $50,000.00
Project Summary:

The New South Wales Board of Jewish Education strives to increase community harmony, by educating students from schools of other dominations about the Jewish faith and to hold inter-faith discussions and to present a true representation of the Jewish faith to counter often distorted media images. This activity will host two school visits per month for 10 months, drawing from the Christian and Anglican schools and Seventh Day Adventist Group. Each visit will host approximately 100 students. The purpose of the visits is to spend a day studying, touring and experiencing educational interaction with the local Jewish community to experience the Jewish faith and to open lines for inter-faith communication.

The other proposed activities include: studies of religion for groups of students and teachers; and Harmony Day events during March.
