Project Summary:

This project aims to change practices of the local business sector in the southern suburbs of Wollongong so that local Aboriginal communities can participate fully in the region's economic life. The project will establish links between the local Aboriginal community and businesses. It will produce a code of practice that provides equal access for Aboriginal people to the local business sector. The project will also develop a symbol that is easily recognisable and which denotes inclusive business practices. Activities will include cultural awareness training, community and business engagement forums and networking opportunities that will progress Aboriginal employment in local businesses.

About the Organisation:

The Port Kembla Community Project works within the community to create and implement projects to alleviate the suffering, distress, misfortune and poverty of disadvantaged members of the Port Kembla community. This Organisation seeks to support and motivate, recognising the individual value of each person.
