Project Summary:

This project seeks to create increased mutual understanding between new migrant groups and the wider Townsville community by examining a focus of discriminatory attitudes, the role of men and women in society. The project will involve adult members of African, Afghani, Iraqi and Pacific Islander groups, together with the established local community in a series of workshops on gender issues. There will also be social and discussion evenings to foster relationships.

About the Organisation

The Townsville Multicultural Support Group provides information, services and assistance to newly arrived migrants and refugees to enable them to settle in Australia with a minimum of difficulty.

The Queensland Women's Health Network promotes the health and wellbeing of women through advocacy, information sharing and research.
