Living in Harmony Community Grants 2005

NSW

Organisation:

Northern Beaches Neighbourhood Service

Project Name:

Culture & Colour

Suburb:

DEE WHY ( Sydney )

State:

New South Wales

Amount:

$47,000

Project Summary:

This project seeks to target the lack of understanding by the broader community of the increasing cultural diversity of Sydney's northern beach suburbs and respond to recent incidents of discrimination and racially motivated abuse of people and property. The project will encourage students at two high schools to explore their own understanding of diversity through a process of engagement, discussion and development of a multi-media resource kit. Students will contribute to focus groups, prepare a multi-media resource and be involved in launching the project. The resource kit will be presented to other local high schools, councils and organisations and the project will be promoted through local and ethnic media.
