Project Summary:

Western Sydney has experienced an influx of migrant peoples from Afghanistan, the Middle East and Africa.

This project intends to bring together Afghan, Middle Eastern, African and Australian-born students on a weekly basis over four school terms to discuss their experience of school and Australian life.  This will provide them with an avenue to take advantage of the opportunities that Australia offers through community participation.  Students will be trained in leadership skills.  They will learn about the role of law, education, equity and fairness in Australia.  The groups will produce a DVD about their experiences in Australia. They will develop a workshop on these issues and deliver 12 workshops in local schools using the DVD, which will also be distributed to a wide range of schools.
