Project Summary:

This project proposes a sporting and social program for culturally isolated and socially disadvantaged young people.  The program will focus on culturally and linguistically diverse young people aged 12 to 20 years newly arrived and from refugee communities (including African and Pacific Islander) in the South Brisbane area.  The project will seek to reduce barriers including cultural/language barriers; cost of equipment; uniforms; registration fees; and lack of coaching clinics to encourage young people into sport. Inala PCYC has worked together with diverse communities to develop this program model to assist participation in locally based, no-cost organised sporting activities and coaching clinics. Activities will include sports skills and coaching clinics, a mid season gathering for participants and families, a tournament and providing a program pack.
