Project Summary:

St Brendan's school community, in Moorooka Brisbane, has a significant percentage of students that come from a refugee background and nearly half the school population speaks English as their second language.  Families of students from diverse communities often have limited social contact and support networks with families from the mainstream community.  This project will bring these groups together to foster a sense of belonging and mutual respect.  Activities will include twelve cooking workshops focussing on nutrition and establishment of a multicultural playgroup.  The playgroup activities will include five workshops with guest speakers on parenting and community health issues.  A Harmony Day celebration will also be held including traditional food prepared by the participants.
