Project Summary:

The South Augusta Football club has been in operation since 1912 and currently has at least 50 per cent of its senior and junior players being of Indigenous descent.  However, the club is yet to have any Indigenous people on its management committee and there are very few Indigenous coaches or in leadership roles.  The Management Committee of the club has identified that there is a need to develop Indigenous leaders within the club. 

The project activities will include encouraging Indigenous people to join the club's Football Committee and take up coaching roles, with mentoring and leadership training provided; cultural awareness training will be provided to mentors and general club members; Indigenous children will be encouraged to participate in sports other than football, offered by the club, and be involved in the club all year. The project will commence with a celebration and recognition of the past contribution of Indigenous players.
