Project Summary: |

Many young people from minority refugee and humanitarian groups do not engage readily with the mainstream community due to issues such as culture shock, family obligations and lack of local contacts and friends. For many young Australian people there are preconceived notions of these groups, their beliefs and values. This project aims to improve the engagement of these young people by facilitating an opportunity for them to share their stories, skills and experiences through workshops and community performance. Youth from diverse backgrounds will work together to create performances celebrating their differences and their shared values and aspirations. The workshops will include an exploration of values including a fair go, democracy, rule of law and responsibility for one's actions. |
