Living in Harmony Community Projects 2007

NSW

Organisation: Albury City Council
Project Name: "Firing up Community Harmony!"
Suburb: Albury
State: New South Wales
Amount: $43,000
Project Summary: The project will reduce the social isolation of new migrants and bring together people from diverse faith and cultural backgrounds. This will facilitate greater understanding and tolerance of different cultures and assist in instilling core Australian values. The project will comprise a series of activities centred round the community facilities in Hovell Tree Park Albury.

The project will involve the creation of a mosaic artwork and the construction of a Community Talking Circle that allows people to share stories and recipes that celebrate their community. In addition to these projects, a series of workshops will be run where various cultural groups, including youth, will host Come and Try days.
