| Project Summary: | The project seeks to address the lack of participation in out-of-school structured sport and recreation activities by children and youth from new and emerging communities. Refugee youth need support to develop skills and confidence to become active participants in their local community. Sporting clubs offer a perfect mechanism for this participation. The project will establish a soccer program that fosters interaction and stronger relationships between refugee and mainstream communities within specific soccer clubs in Belmont, Victoria Park, Maddington and Gosnells. This approach will assist in the integration of refugee families into the local community which will help facilitate mutual respect and a sense of belonging for all. |
