Harmony Day 2010 Supporters

Australian Centre for Languages

ACL logo‘For many years ACL has supported Harmony Day as an opportunity to celebrate the cohesive and inclusive nature of our nation and promote the benefits of our rich cultures. ACL has provided support for more than 113,000 newly arrived migrants and refugees through the Adult Migrant English Program since 1998 and through the Integrated Humanitarian Settlement Strategy since 2005. Over these years we have been privileged to see first hand the contribution migrants and refugees make to Australia, and to understand the challenges of building a new life in Australia.’

Australian Football League

AFL logo‘The AFL is proud to support Harmony Day because we believe our game reflects Australia’s cultural diversity. As the son of migrants, Australian football gave me an opportunity to connect with the community. It brings together people, young and old, regardless of their cultural background. Football gives them a common cause, a common pursuit and a common language.’

Australian Red Cross

Red Cross logo‘Red Cross is very pleased to be partnering with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to encourage young people to celebrate Harmony Day. As an organisation that is guided in its work in Australia and around the world by the principals of Humanity and Universality we strongly embrace diversity and respect our cultural, racial and religious differences. The international Red Cross and Red Crescent movement is made up of 186 national societies from almost every country of the world and is a beacon of international solidarity and humanitarian ideals. I particularly want to encourage young people to make use of our Y Challenge – celebrating diversity resources, available via this website, to help them make a meaningful and positive contribution to their community and to promote the celebration of diversity every day.’

Australian Sports Commission

Australian Sports Commission logo‘The Australian Sports Commission is proud to be a supporter of Harmony Day. We believe sport assists in delivering the Harmony Day message 'Everyone Belongs' given sport can break down social barriers, provide great health benefits and help foster a more inclusive society. A passion for sport can transcend cultural and language barriers. It doesn't matter where you were born or what language you speak, when you support the same team that passion for sport or a sporting team can unite people from different backgrounds. The Commission is looking forward to being involved in Harmony Day 2010.’
