Harmony at the Australian Open

On Wednesday 18 January, The Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) and Tennis Australia jointly hosted a cocktail reception at the Australian Open for our valued Harmony Day partners, supporters and ambassadors.

These included representatives from SBS, Cricket Australia Guides Australia, Scouts Australia, National Rugby League, Surf Life Saving Australia, Softball Australia, Netball Australia, Coca-Cola Amatil, Volunteering Australia, LEBA Media, Country Womens Association, Australian Football League, Telstra and Newcomers Network..

Special guests included former Minister for Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs, the Hon John Cobb MP and the Victorian members of the
Council for Multicultural Australia.

Mr Steve Wood, CEO of Tennis Australia welcomed everyone and re-confirmed Tennis Australia 's commitment to promoting anti-racism with particular emphasis on harmony in sport.

The former Minister also gave a speech and sincerely thanked everyone in attendance for their great effort and support in working to make
Harmony Day 2006 the biggest and best yet.
