Taste of Harmony Experience Sydney, NSW
Tell us a little about how you celebrated Harmony Day
I am so excited to share my first ever Taste of Harmony experience with you all. I recently got to know of this and was very much eager to have it arranged in my workplace. And finally I had my first exposure on 28th of March 2017. For that, I made Samosas, my all-time favourite snack/ street food since childhood, which I like to have it anytime of the day. It is a pastry sheet folded in triangular shape and filled with the choice of spiced filling (vegetables, chicken/ beef mince etc.) and deep fried to get the golden crunch outer covering. Although I could not get all the shapes perfect but it was liked by everyone. We had some amazing food prepared by other colleagues, cuisines from different parts of the world. I got to taste some foods for the first time ever in my life. We also decided to wear a piece of orange clothing and I wore an orange scarf, all of us looked so bright and colourful, different from regular blacks and nudes. We talked about things apart from work which is a great way to get to know each other well. We laughed, talked and appreciated different tastes as food bring us all together. So, overall it was such an ahh-mazing experience as I already started to look forward for our next Taste of Harmony day.
Who were your partners?
I am a Junior Admin at Playfair – Visa and Migration Services. The entire team as well as management strongly supported this intercultural celebration to promote the cultural diversity within our company. Especially as a Migration Firm we have many employees from different parts of the world with diverse backgrounds. I am pleased to work in a company with such an encouraging working culture and felt glad to share this experience with my colleagues.
