SBS Radio hosted a forum entitled: Hidden from View: Is Australia’s media mono-cultural? Hosted by the World View program, this youth-oriented project featured high-profile panelists that gave their points of view on the varied realities of Australian identity.
Cater Care Australia
Cater Care Australia ran a 'Cultural Culinary Competition' in the lead up to Harmony Day and collated all the recipes into one very diverse recipe book!
Dundee Beach School – NT
The children of Dundee Beach School in the Northern Territory decorated the community water tank was painted with Harmony Day words, pictures, and messages in different languages. The students also designed postcards incorporating Harmony Day words and posted them to friends, other schools and community members.
Pooraka Primary School – SA
Pooraka Primary in South Australia created a Harmony jigsaw puzzle. Each student made their own jigsaw piece and decorated it with writing and pictures about Harmony. Each year came together to make a world of harmony which became a whole school piece for display.
Lismore Harmony Day Committee – NSW
The Lismore Harmony Day committee held a Living in Harmony morning tea where friends, families and members of the community wore orange and shared laughs, songs stories and dancing. Activities also included painting a Harmony Day lantern with thoughts and pictures.
Lithgow Information and Childhood Centre – NSW
Lithgow Information and Childhood Centre decorated the public plaza and released 50 balloons with messages of hope for Harmony. School children also performed songs of Harmony.
University of Canberra – ACT
The University of Canberra held a week of celebrations leading up to 21 March. These celebrations included exhibitions of traditional dress from all over the world, a market day that highlighted the cultural diversity of students and the presentation of Harmony Day awards to students and staff.
