Event Adelaide T12 Cricket Nations Cup 2019
To be held Sunday 10 March in the South Parklands (at Kurangga/Park 10 the Pulteney Grammar Sports Fields South Terrace in the city) will be the “T12” which is a multicultural cricket event featuring sixteen teams with players representing their country of origin. “We loved it and had great fun. The Nations Cup is an opportunity to show just how diverse this state is. The all-day cricket event is compiled of 16 teams playing 12 overs each way across 25 games, and concluding with Divisional Grand Finals to determine the champions.Coloured clothing, white cricket balls, SACA umpires, Turf wickets it is local international cricket. All players live in South Australia except the Northern Territory team.SA Afghanistan beat SA Netherlands in the Division 1 Grand Final and SA Italy beat SA South Africa in the Division 2 decider last year. Cricket legend and coach of the Australian cricket team Darren Lehmann is also a big supporter of the tournament. “Playing for my country was an incredible honour and privilege,” said Mr. Lehmann. “The Cricket Nations Cup gives an opportunity for many more South Australians to represent their country of origin in cricket, the national game.” In an exciting development 15 people, one from each of the community teams playing will receive their Australian Citizenship during the tournament as spectators and all 240 players will stop play and welcome them as our newest citizens. The communities represented this year will be: Afghanistan (Div.1 Champions 2015, 2016 and 2018), Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, England, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Netherlands, Northern Territory IF Project XI, Pakistan, Pashtun, Scotland, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
