Business and Innovation Technology team Gold Coast, QLD

Tell us a little about how you celebrated Harmony Day

Our team is the Business and Innovation Technology team which is part of the Gold Coast City Council.

We encouraged team members to cook food from the countries who are participating in the Commonwealth Games.

Everyone made a huge effort and meals were created from Anguila, Australia, Canada, Cook Islands, Gibraltar, India, Jamaica, Mozambique, Pakistan, Samoa, Scotland etc.

What was most memorable about your Harmony Day celebration?

Our team members were amazing and produced meals from 35 different countries.

Every meal had a story on how it was cooked or the reason why the team member chose that particular meal to make.

We learnt that many of our team members have lived and worked in different countries. Also many team members or their families have migrated to Australia.

The lunch was a very happy sociable event and we look forward to next year’s Harmony Day.
