Tell us a little about how you celebrated Harmony Day
Our focus for the day was around the understanding that Australia is a vibrant and multicultural country, where everyone belongs and matters.
Students were encouraged to wear either their cultural dress or something orange. Parents and students were invited to visit the classrooms and share their family’s story and features of cultural background.
We came together as a whole school in one large circle to symbolize our connectedness and ate our recess. It was a great opportunity to acknowledge that we are blessed to have such a diverse community where everyone belongs and matters.
Students demonstrated open-mindedness, respect, appreciation and were very reflective of why we were celebrating Harmony Day.
