Tell us a little about how you celebrated Harmony Day
We All Belong at ISLHD Nowra Community Health Centre
The Illawarra and Shoalhaven is made up of harmonious and vibrant communities from all walks of life. ISLHD staff are also diverse, and on Harmony Day, Nowra Community Health Service (NCHS) celebrated with the theme ‘Everyone Belongs’.
Who were your partners?
Staff members from Nowra Community Health Centre, in particular members of the Social Committee, including dieticians, Psychologist Multicultural Health Education Officers and Early Childhood Nurses.
What was most memorable about your Harmony Day celebration?
The day was marked by a Welcome to Country and included an introduction to the Refugee Health Team. Staff decorated with multicultural costumes and themes and learnt about how to dress with a Sari. There was also a quiz about multiculturalism and performances followed by a multicultural lunch with flavours from India, Thailand, Australia, Mexico, Persia, France and much more!
Staff at NCHS also contributed recipes to a special ‘Harmony Day Recipe booklet’ to share amongst colleagues to help us commemorate Harmony Day.
